Okinawan Performance

A huge mahalo to Naha Daiko, the Okinawan Eisa drum & dance troupe from Naha City, Okinawa, who did a special performance for our after school hula program students & families while they were visiting Hawai'i for the Okinawan Festival a few weeks ago. One of their 6th grade members attended after school hula classes for several weeks, and at the end of her time with us, we had a cultural exchange extravaganza where she and her troupe performed traditional drum and dance performances (complete with a lion dance!), our students performed kahiko and 'auana hula performances, and even the crowd got to join in the fun! What a wonderful experience all around!
