CLUBS AND EXTRACURRICULARS
Anti-Bullying Committee
During weekly lunch sessions with our school counselor, Ms. Medina, fifth and sixth grade committee members meet to discuss how to promote kindness, acceptance, and inclusion at PCHES. From the planning of the Unity Day Assembly, to the messages of positivity across campus, and various student activities throughout the year, they address issues and hardships today's youth face, as well as meaningful tools and solutions.

Basketball Team
The basketball team is comprised of fifth and sixth graders. Practices run Monday through Thursday. Students can try out for the tournament teams in the fall to compete in the championship meet against other elementary schools in Pearl City. After the tournament, we run intramural basketball teams that verse each other. There is an exciting and competitive students vs. teachers game at the end of the season.

​The Chess Club members learn, strategize, and challenge each other in rousing chess matches against each other throughout the year in tournament-style play.

CPO & Flag Squad
CPO stands for Campus Police Officer. Fifth and sixth graders who value the safety of our school join CPO, working before, during, and after school every school day to greet people, monitor students to make sure they're showing safe behaviors. Two sixth graders, who show leadership potential, are chosen to be platoon captains, leading their platoon of around cadets.​
The Flag Squad learn and follow all the special rules of flag etiquette and practice the guidelines set forth on flag code and conduct when putting up and taking down our flags every day.

​Math Olympiad Team
Fifth and sixth grade students who show interest and ability in mathematical reasoning, speed, accuracy, and problem solving can apply to join our Math Olympiad team. They practice during and after school in preparation for an annual Math Olympiad competition at Pearl City Intermediate School. 3D Tic Tac Toe and a casino activity paired with chance/odds are some of the activities they participate in.

PCHES Productions
Students in 5th and 6th grade have the opportunity to join PCHES Productions and showcase their ideas and creativity through media projects. Student apply their writing and tech skills to create the monthly school broadcast on our YouTube channel, film school events, and design the school yearbook.

PCHES Student Ambassadors
Each year, fifth and sixth graders can have the opportunity to become student ambassadors for PCHES, playing an important role as representatives of our school for both new and prospective students, as well as visiting community members. Throughout the year, they meet with our school counselors to plan engaging presentations, practice their public speaking skills, and model the P.C.H.E.S. mindset of cultivating Perseverance, Curiosity, Humility, the ability to Embrace challenges, and Self-awareness.

Our school's VEX Robotics Team is comprised of fifth and sixth graders who are interested in robot building, mechanics, and operation. They meet twice a week to build and strategize. The VEX Team joins a league where it competes against other schools to rank high enough to move on to the state tournament. Students in VEX develop teamwork, problem solving, and communication skills that are important in their academic and future careers.

​Science Club
Around fifteen students are chosen per semester to participate in the Science Club. Students can be in grades 1-5. Students do experiments such as grow crystals and make slime.

​​​​​​​Student Council
Every other Friday, the student council team meets with Mrs. Ginoza, our counselor. When they start their meeting, they talk about concerns in the school and try and solve problems to make the school better. When the meeting is over, the members report the findings to their classes and then ask them about other concerns that are going on in school. The student council also plans fun events like Spirit Week.

​Track Team
Fifth and sixth graders have the opportunity to join our track team. The season begins in the spring and practices run after school Monday through Thursday. Track activities include running, softball throw, and long jump. All the schools in the district compete at Pearl City High School for the complex track meet.
