The 6th graders went on a field trip to the Hawaii Nature Center. On this field trip we learned about the importance of biomimicry. Biomimicry is when we copy off of nature and make it become useful. For example, geckos have sticky feet and because of their feet people thought of making duct tape. They find an animal that has something useful and make that happen. So going back to the gecko feet, they found out how they stick to the walls and windows and they copy it. That’s the way of biomimicry.
