The 4th graders went to He’eia fishpond in February and had a lot of fun. They cracked mangrove and learned that big fish go out to the ocean, medium fish are what we eat, and small fish are the fish that stay in the fishpond. They learned a lot about the history of the fishpond. They learned that the fishpond is 800 years old! They went to the fishpond because they were learning about sections of an ahupua'a. They went to the kai section and discovered the fishpond. They felt really good about going there because it was a good experience and had lots of fun!
